Desthiobiotin PEG Maleimide is one of Nanocs’ reactive desthiobiotin PEG crosslinkers that can react with thiol (-SH) groups. Maleimide reacts with thiol/sulfhydryl group at neutral pH quckily and efficiently. Reaction between maleimide and thiol allows conjugation of desthiobiotin tag to proteins, antibodies, peptides or nucleic acids with high efficiency. Desthiobiotin is a modified version of biotin. Compared to biotin, desthiobiotin binds to streptavidin, avidin and other biotin-binding proteins with lower affinity and it can be eluted from binding complex under much milder conditions (i.e., by competitive displacement with regular, free biotin).
